CD and DVD recycling

CD and DVD recycling - Campbelltown City Council

You are now able to dispose of old CDs and DVDs in an environmentally friendly way, with the introduction of a CD and DVD recycling pilot.

Drop off unwanted CDs and DVDs (including their cases) into designated collection boxes at the following locations:

  • HJ Daley Library, cnr Hurley Street and Camden Road, Campbelltown.
  • Eagle Vale Central, cnr Feldspar Road and Eagle Vale Drive, Eagle Vale.
  • Glenquarie Branch Library, Brooks Street, Macquarie Fields.
  • Greg Percival Library, cnr Oxford and Cumberland Roads, Ingleburn.
  • Minto Library, Pembroke Road, Minto (in Sarah Redfern complex, opposite Minto Mall).
  • Council's Civic Centre, cnr Queen and Broughton Streets, Campbelltown.

The CDs and DVDs are sent to a company for recycling, which involves removing the metallic coating from the discs and recycling the plastic component. The cases and paper inserts are also recycled.

As CDs and DVDs cannot be placed in household recycling bins, this pilot program will provide residents with a more sustainable way to dispose of these items, and will result in even more of Campbelltown’s waste being diverted from landfill.

The CD and DVD recycling pilot will run until the end of January 2013.

Remember:

  • Domestic quantities only.
  • Please remove any confidential information from data discs before disposal.
  • Only CDs, DVDs, their cases and paper inserts will be accepted for recycling.
