Ground closures

To ensure the safety of participants and help protect the playing surface, Council sporting grounds may be subject to closures during inclement weather or for maintenance works to take place.

Who makes a decision on ground closures?

Sporting groups are responsible for ensuring the playing field is fit for play for all sports competitions.  A decision on whether or not a ground is fit for play is generally made by the particular sporting association / club to whom the ground is allocated, with the sporting group being responsible for any damage or injury that may occur when the ground is unsuitable.

Note:  Ground closures do not impact Campbelltown Athletics Centre or Coronation Park netball complex, which are all-weather facilities.

How to find out if a sports ground is closed or reopened due to wet weather?

Please contact your Club or Association directly for the status of grounds.

However, during periods of extreme or ongoing inclement weather, Council may close grounds for training/games or school use, or to repair any damaged or unsuitable grounds.  Council will post site wide alerts which appear above the Campbelltown City Council logo at the top of every web page, as well as post a news item.   Alternatively, contact the Healthy Lifestyles section on 02 4645 4623.

Do you have a maintenance issue?

For any maintenance issues (eg. broken flood light, leaking toilet etc.) please contact Council via email or phone 02 4645 4000.  Please report graffiti hits using our online form.
