Ai Weiwei: Under Construction
Exhibition Catalogue
The exhibitions are accompanied by an extensive catalogue written by exhibition curator Dr Charles Merewether, with a Preface by Dr Gene Sherman, Chairman, Executive Director, Sherman Contemporary Art Foundation and an Introduction by Lisa Havilah, Director, Campbelltown Arts Centre.
This full colour catalogue includes 119 images over 160 pages and is published by the University of New South Wales Press in association with Sherman Contemporary Art Foundation and Campbelltown Arts Centre.
Developed over 11 chapters, Dr Merewether explores how, through his art, Ai Weiwei raises questions about cultural violence and history. His work is seen within the context of a country where future possibilities are shaped by the opposing forces of ruin and production, patrimony and erasure – the logic of ‘ruins in reverse’.
