Do you know someone who has gone above and beyond?

Our annual Australia Day awards provide the chance to acknowledge local residents, whether they have excelled academically, in the sporting arena or have performed a great service to the community.

Community groups are also acknowledged for their contribution to the City of Campbelltown.

Award categories

Citizen of the Year

Nominees aged 26 and over as at 31 December 2023. They must either live, work or study in Campbelltown local government area and have either made a noteworthy contribution during the current year and/or given outstanding service to the local community over a number of years.

Young Citizen of the Year

Nominees aged 25 and under as at 31 December 2023. They must either live, work or study in Campbelltown local government area and have either made a noteworthy contribution during the current year and/or given outstanding service to the local community over a number of years.

Senior Citizen of the Year

Nominees aged 65 years or older on 31 December 2023. They must live in the Campbelltown local government area and have either made a noteworthy contribution during the current year and/or given outstanding service to the local community over a number of years.

Sports Award

Recognises the work of an individual that has devoted time, energy and passion to sporting pursuits in the Campbelltown local government area. This contribution can occur as an athlete, volunteer, supporter or anyone who has links to the various sporting groups and clubs in Campbelltown. The individual must have made a noteworthy contribution during the current year and/or given outstanding service to the local community over a number of years.

Community Group Initiative of the Year

Local community groups or other non-profit organisations within the Campbelltown local government area that have made significant contributions to the welfare of people, the quality of life, the arts, science, engineering, the environment or other fields of endeavor.

Diversity and Inclusion Award

The award recognises an individual or group that has shown outstanding and innovative contributions that promote social inclusion, acceptance and understanding of human diversity in the Campbelltown local government area.

Environmental Citizen of the Year

Recognises the work of an individual, group or organisation that has devoted time, energy and passion to the Campbelltown local government area environment. This contribution can occur in the year prior to the award being presented or as recognition of a longstanding commitment or service to the Campbelltown environment.

All nominations will be processed and reviewed with the eligibility criteria in mind
We ask that you provide as much detail as possible on your nomination - the more information and examples you provide the better.
You may be asked to provide further information about your nomination
Please ensure you provide a valid contact phone number and email address for us to contact you.

Eligibility

You are not eligible if you are:

A previous recipient of an Award in the same category
A recipient of Australian and Imperial Honours
A member of the Australia Day Awards selection panel
An elected representative e.g. MPs, Councillors
A Campbelltown City Council staff member.

2023 Australia Day Award winners

Brian Laul was awarded the Citizen of the Year Award in recognition of his work across a range of community initiatives over many years.

Kyla Hodges was named Young Citizen of the Year.
Community Group Initiative of the Year was awarded to Horizon Youth St Andrews.
Campbelltown Ghosts All Inclusive Scout Group leader Reece Riley received the Disability and Inclusion Award.
Environmental Citizen of the Year was awarded to Deb Evans-Clark.
Talented netball player Lachlan Arbuckle was named Sportsperson of the Year.
