The Committee for Sydney is an independent think tank and champion for the whole of Sydney, providing thought leadership beyond the electoral cycle.

The aim of the Committee is to enhance the economic, social, cultural and environmental conditions that make Sydney a competitive and liveable global city.

The top priorities

The committee has developed six focus areas to provide a framework for advocacy, events, publications and media activities.

1. Managing Sydney's growing population - supported by the Planning Taskforce and the Western Cities Taskforce
2. Building a strong modern economy - supported by the Knowledge Economy Taskforce and the Financial Services Knowledge Hub
3. Improving the effectiveness of all levels of government - supported by the Smart Cities Taskforce and the Local Government Reference Group
4. Protecting Sydney from climate change - supported by the Resilience Taskforce
5. Keeping Sydney Moving - supported by the Transport Taskforce
6. Enhance Sydney's appeal for fun and culture - supported by the Liveability/Loveability Taskforce
