Council has been undertaking spray control for invasive aquatic plants since January 2018 within the catchments of the Nepean River, Bow Bowing Creek, Bunbury Curran Creek and Georges River.
Herbicide spraying for the invasive aquatic plants, Alligator weed (Alternanthera philoxeroides) and Ludwigia (Ludwigia peruviana), has been undertaken since January 2018 to reduce impacts to local creeks.
Alligator Weed infestations will be treated using Metsulfuron Methyl and/or Glyphosate and Ludwigia infestations will be treated using 2,4-D and/or Glyphosate. These chemicals are applied according to the manufacturer’s specifications and are registered for this use by the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority.
The public is advised not to use, drink, or swim in waterways during the herbicide application periods.
