Cleaner Stronger Resilient

Sustainable Small Business Program

Council has partnered with Sydney Water and the Western Sydney Business Centre (WSBC) to support local small businesses wanting to be more sustainable by saving water and energy. This program is being piloted as part of a range of initiatives under Council’s Cleaner, Stronger, Resilient campaign.

The program brings together Council’s current commitment to the Sydney Water Savings Partnership and the expertise of the WSBC’s Business Advisor to provide advice and guidance on water and energy usage including free desktop and on-site assessments. A funding pool and system is being developed to help businesses implement identified savings.

The program aims to help businesses:

  • Understand their energy and water bills, keep track of changes and key trends
  • Understand their equipment, fixtures and fitting, what uses the most water and energy and when to change it
  • Identify wasteful behaviours and implement measures to improve and reduce waste
  • Become a more sustainable business both economically and environmentally
  • Save money by implementing changes with efficient payback periods

Initially the program will be piloted for 2 months between May and June 2021 to test interest and efficacy with the local business community. The pilot will target specific business types and geographical locations:

  • Child Care centres, bakeries, light retail, trade services, small offices, hairdressers, education premises and gyms
  • Queen Street Campbelltown
