The rich culture, flavours and sounds of Ramadan are coming to Campbelltown at a series of new family-friendly community events held throughout April.

Lithgow Street in Campbelltown will be transformed into a night-time eat street featuring a range of halal food from local eateries and food trucks during Ramadan On Q on Saturday 15 April from 4.30pm to 11.30pm.

Eid Mubarak Campbelltown will mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan and celebrate Eid al-Fitr with a large community gathering featuring dozens of tantalising food and market stalls, a range of cultural performances, kid’s activities and amusement rides on Sunday 30 April from 11am to 8pm at Coronation Park, Minto.

The family-focused event will also welcome characters from the popular cartoon Zaky and Friends to meet the crowd and join the festivities.

“Ramadan is a significant time for Muslims that focuses on reflection and consideration for the wider community so I’m looking forward to seeing everyone come together to learn and share in new experiences of culture and cuisine,” Mayor George Greiss.

“Ramadan On Q and Eid Mubarak Campbelltown will be fantastic new events that promise to be a great day out for families while also attracting tourism to support our local economy,” Cr Greiss said.

“They will be fresh and unique new attractions in Campbelltown so I’m looking forward to joining our community at these great events,” he said.

Local halal-certified stallholders and restaurants are encouraged to register on Council’s website to be part of each event.

Funding for this project has been provided by the NSW Government.
