Abigail's story

Lesson One: Friday 10 July 2020

Abigail (6yrs old) had her first lesson today where she gain confidence in riding a bicycle 'with' training wheels.

Throughout the lesson Abigail also learnt how to start riding her bike as well as braking to stop, riding up and down hills and around corners safely. Abigail also attempted her first time riding a bike without training wheels and discovered that balancing and riding wasn't so easy.

At the completion of Abigail's lesson, she had gain confidence in riding a bicycle with training wheels and was actually having fun riding. Abigail's homework for the week was to practice riding her own bike with training wheels, practising her push starts, balancing, pedal and braking skills plus to have fun.

Lesson Two: Friday 17 July 2020

After a week of practicing Abigail became very confident to ride her bike with training wheels. Abigail was using both brakes to stop her bike, comfortably riding up and down hills without hesitation and her balance had also improved. It was time to let go of the training wheels. "It's harder than it looks" Abigail would say. After perseverance Abigail tried riding her bike without training wheels using all the techniques that she had learnt. Although she was very close to riding, the skill of riding from point A to B was a little tricky.

The next day, Abigail and her Mum set out to have another go without the training wheels, and yes Abigail had accomplished it! She had put all her hard work and skills together and was able to ride a bike from point A to B plus braking when needing to.

Congratulations Abigail on your hard efforts and achieving your goal to ride a bike!

Keep up the great practice, always wear a helmet and have fun riding.
