Bulky waste collection

Residents can book up to four bulky waste collections each calendar year, where Council collect large unwanted household items that are too big for your bins.


What’s included?

A bulky waste collection includes two cubic metres of material (2m wide x 1m height x 1m depth) and can be booked for general waste or scrap metal collection.

Before you book

To ensure you’re clean up ready, please review the following:

What can go in?

  • Cut into 1m lengths that can be lifted by one person

  • Ensure clothing is bagged neatly

What can't go in?

noHousehold food scraps

noBuilding materials or commercial waste

  • i.e. no asbestos, concrete, gyprock, bricks, pallets

noCar batteries, car parts or tyres

noSheet / plate glass, solar panels or mirrors

noGlassware (plates, cups and other pyrex)

noChemicals

noPolystyrene, paints, oils, batteries & gas bottles

noMedical waste or syringes

noItems more than 2 metres in length

noItems too heavy for 2 people to easily lift

Terms and conditions

  • Bookings must be made at least 2 weeks in advance to allow time for scheduling
  • Only one bulky waste collection can be booked per property at a time
  • Only the booked amount (2m³) will be collected
  • Residents must remove any excess or incorrect items. If left on the kerb, it's considered illegal dumping and penalties apply
  • Piles blocked by vehicles may not be collected
  • Placing items on the kerb without a booking is considered illegal dumping and penalties apply

Presentation guidelines

  • Place items on the kerb by 6am on your scheduled collection day, but no more than 24 hours before
  • Ensure items are clearly accessible, off the road and footpath
  • Bag or box small items and stack everything neatly
  • Ensure items are easy for 2 people to lift
  • For safety reasons, remove doors from whitegoods
  • Tie garden prunings into 1m lengths, ensuring it can be lifted by one person
  • Stack scrap metal separately from general waste

FAQs

What is the Bulky Waste Collection Guide?

During November and December, the first 5,000 residents who book a Bulky Waste Collection will receive a free Bulky Waste Collection Guide in the mail to help them prepare for their collection.

Each pack includes:

  • A guide with tips to ensure you’re collection ready
  • A booking confirmation sticker to display on your pile, so our collection crews can easily identify it
  • A mini 2 metre tape measure to help you measure your 2m3 allowance (that’s 2m x 1m x 1m)

When can I book my bulky waste collection?

You can book your bulky waste collection any time during the year, as long as you have remaining entitlements. Households with a domestic waste service receive four clean ups per year, which reset on 1 January.

Please book at least 2 weeks in advance to allow time for scheduling.

How do I make a booking?

Step 1:

Make an online booking or contact Council on 02 4645 4000

Step 2:
Place items on the kerb by 6am on your scheduled collection day, but no more than 24 hours before

Clean up tips

  1. Stack items neatly, away from the road and footpath
  2. Bag or box small items
  3. Reduce your clean up amount by:
    • Taking household problem waste to Campbelltown's CRC for free
    • Donating saleable items to your local charity 

Changes/cancellations to a booking

Please call our friendly Customer Service team on 02 4645 4000 for assistance.

Note: changes or cancellations to bookings must be made at least 48 hours before.

Report a missed bulky waste collection

Most collections happen between 6am and 4pm.

Please allow until 12pm the next day for your collection, as there may be delays.

If it still hasn’t been picked up after that time, call us on 02 4645 4000 and report it.
