Program 1 - Want to reduce food waste going to landfill?
This is the opportunity you have been waiting for. We have funds to support 15 of our primary schools with a free interactive program to reduce food waste going to landfill. There will be two block sessions on offer:
Term 1: Monday 28 February to Friday 18 March 2022
Term 2: Monday 23 May to Friday 10 June 2022
This program for each school will consist of:
- A performance with Eaton Gorge Theatre Company - Madam Mulch and the Great Fertiliso
- Supply of a Hungry Worm bin or compost bin to your school
- A day of sessions with Enviro Mentors to set up your hardware including sessions on worm farming or composting (up to 3 sessions) and undertake a snapshot waste audit (after lunch session).
This program is fully funded by the NSW Environment Protection Authority and will be delivered free to your school.
Requirements to participate
While we are providing this program free of charge, we do need you to record the food waste diverted from landfill for one week. Then we'll need you to undertake follow up measuring 3 months later and participate in a survey. That is it!
Enviro Mentors will be contacting our local primary schools on our behalf to promote this program.

Program 2 - It's time to wriggle and get down and dirty with your food scraps!
We have the opportunity for 10 of our Early Learning Centres to participate in a session to help reduce food waste going to landfill. This program is fully funded by the NSW Environment Protection Authority and will be delivered free to your centre.
What does it consist of?
Staff from the Macarthur Centre for Sustainable Living will attend your centre to run a fun and engaging session with your children for approximately 1.5hrs (10.30am -12 noon). You will choose between either worm farming or composting for your session.
We will also provide each centre with either a worm farm or compost bin that will be set up and installed as part of the session.
Requirements to participate
There is no cost to the Early Learning Centre to participate in this program.
The only requirement is for the centre to measure the food waste they divert from landfill for one week (after installation of the hardware), provide this information to Campbelltown City Council and participate in a follow up survey within 3 months. This is required by the NSW Environment Protection Authority as part of the agreement to fund this program.
We will provide a booklet to each participating centre at the time of the workshop session to record this information as part of the program.
