Meet Larry,

Larry is the softer, slightly shy brother of the trio, but underneath that initial uncertainty is a very sweet little guy. He loves being around people, gets along well with his brother Kevin and is already showing that he’s keen to learn — he knows how to sit and, with some encouragement, is ready to keep adding to his list of skills. He might greet you with plenty of excitement, but he’s able to settle once the initial hello is over.

Larry enjoys playing with toys when he’s relaxing in his kennel, but once he ventures outside there are far more important things to investigate! He likes to take in everything happening around him, and as his confidence continues to grow, we think more and more of his personality will come along with it. Smart and highly capable, Larry ticks a lot of boxes in the puppy department.

Considerations:

Larry would love a yard, with high secure fencing, so that he can play in it safely. He dreams of a home with toys - lots of toys! As well as daily exercise/walks to keep his body physically fit & his mind mentally fit. Treat/food puzzles are a great way of keeping active puppy minds engaged!

Larry is starting to explore his surrounds & is growing in confidence each & every day. However, it would be a wise move to invest in a crate & start crate training. This type of training is not only a highly valuable skill to have but is a great skill for any dog to learn and know.

Larry should be enrolled into puppy training classes as soon as he is adopted. These classes & training will set him up for life and will allow him to learn social skills & etiquette, as well as define his manners. These classes & training will also teach him how to appropriately interact with other animals & people. These training classes will also assist his new owner, as they can both learn new skills together.

As a working breed, Larry may display natural behaviours such as herding and have a strong drive towards smaller animals, so potential owners should consider their individual home, family, lifestyle and other pets when deciding if they’re the right fit.

Post Adoption Life:With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks may surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
