In the Campbelltown City Council area, voters will be electing 15 Councillors. These officials will represent our community and make decisions about our city's policies, services and important issues for the next four years.

As we get closer to the elections, we'll update this page with more details about how and where you can vote, becoming a Councillor, and finding information about candidates.

Information about the election and key dates can be found on the NSW Electoral Commission website:

Who has to vote?

If you are an Australian citizen aged 18 years or more, and live in the Campbelltown City Council area, you must vote in these elections. If you do not vote, you may receive a penalty notice. For more information about voting, see the FAQs on the NSW Electoral Commission website.

Check and update your enrolment details

You can also check your enrolment details for the residential roll to ensure they are up to date and change if necessary. The residential roll is the list of people who live in the council area and are eligible to vote in election.

If you've moved, turned 18, or changed your name or other personal details since the last election, you should update your voting enrolment details.

Visit the Australian Electoral Commission website to check or update your details.

Non- Residential Roll

The non-residential rolls provide people who are non-resident owners, occupiers and rate-paying lessees of rateable land within the Council area an opportunity to have a say in who is elected to Council.

If you are not a resident, you may still be entitled to vote if you own, occupy or lease property in the Campbelltown City Council area as a corporation, business or individual.

You may register in your own right as an individual or as a nominated company officer (or equivalent) of a corporation. Registration is not compulsory.

Becoming a Councillor

If you're passionate about what happens in your local community, becoming a Councillor is an exciting opportunity to make a difference and to represent the interests of residents.

Councillors can play a key role in making decisions that influence both the short-term concerns and long-term strategic direction of their local community. It is a big commitment, and prospective Councillors need to know what will be expected of them – the challenges, responsibilities and opportunities.

The Office of Local Government (OLG) is running a diversity campaign urging people from underrepresented groups to consider standing for their community.

To support this campaign, OLG has a new Become a councillor webpage for prospective candidates with a range of resources, including:

  • its Stand for your Community candidate guide
  • an online learning tool for prospective candidates, and
  • targeted candidate guides for women, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, people with disability, and young people.

The NSW Electoral Commission is holding a series of webinars in the lead up to the 2024 NSW Local Government elections for councils and for candidates and other political participants.
