Tree planting on nature strips
You can ask Council to plant a tree on a nature strip through our customer request system.
Tree species include:
Species to be planted are determined by our Open Space team and are dependent on current plantings that exist within the street.
Free Tree Giveaway
From June to October, Department of Planning are partnering with Bunnings Warehouse to make free trees available to Greater Sydney households. Each month a limited number of trees will be available via the NSW Planning Portal.
The giveaway is a fantastic opportunity to add some greenery to your home and help make your suburb an even more beautiful place to live. Planting more trees will provide more shade, more privacy and cleaner air. We are encouraging everyone to plant one.
National Tree Day
Hosted annually in late July, early August - residents are invited to join us and get planting on National Tree Day to help support our natural environment.
The day involves the community planting sessions and activities to care for native trees and shrubs to improve the area’s bushland reserves. National Tree Day started in 1996 and since then more than three million people have planted 23 million seedlings on this day.

Wild Koala Day
Held on the first Sunday of May annually, this tree planting events helps us to support the future of local koalas and plant native plants on Wild Koala Day.
Council and partners have helped restore significant habitat within the Smiths Creek/Cook Park Reserve wildlife corridor.

Become a Koalatown Supporter
Do you have a passion for the outdoors? Would you like to know more about local waterways, birds, insects, plants and wildlife, and pick up some new skills while you're at it? If the answer is yes, then why not join one of our Bushcare volunteer groups?
As a Bushcare volunteer, you will do your bit for the environment while rubbing shoulders with interesting and like-minded people. Bushcare groups participate in activities such as tree planting, erosion control, litter removal, weed management, and of course, wildlife spotting.
No experience is necessary - we will provide you with all the training you need.
Home Nursery Program
If you have a passion for the outdoors and growing plants and would love to pick up some new skills, then our Native Nursery at Home program is perfect for you. As part of this program you will learn how to gather, prepare and grow local native plant-seed to put back into the bush.
Our monthly workshops will look into the many different aspects of raising native plants, from gathering and storing local seed-stock to propagating seeds, including the proper care and maintenance of seedlings and the equipment required. You will also learn about the diverse native habitats of Campbelltown and why they are so important.
