If your work affects a road, footpath, parking lane, nature strip or other public space, Council approval may be required before work starts. Use this page to identify the approval you need and prepare a complete application.
Before applying: Have your site plan, traffic management documents and insurance certificate ready.
Approval
When it may be required
Road Occupancy Permit
Temporary use or closure of a road, footpath or parking area, including cranes, deliveries, utility works, skip bins or construction activities.
Work Zone Permit
Dedicated kerbside space for construction vehicles, regular deliveries or loading beside approved development.
Hoarding or Scaffolding Permit
Hoardings, scaffolding, temporary fencing, gantries or overhead protection within or above the road reserve.
Assessment timeframes depend on the location and complexity of the proposal. Additional assessment may be required where works affect major roads, traffic signals, busy pedestrian areas or require referral to another authority. Apply well before your proposed start date.
Applications may be delayed when plans, traffic management documents or insurance details are missing, expired or do not match the proposed work. Check that all information is complete before lodging your application.
You must follow all permit conditions, use the approved traffic controls, maintain safe access, protect Council assets and work only within the approved dates and times.
Select the relevant application once you have completed the checklist and prepare your supporting documents.
