Meet Banjo,

If Banjo had a greatest-hits list, toys wouldn't make the Top 40. Treats might scrape in around #10. But sitting comfortably at #1, with absolutely no chance of being knocked off the charts, is you. Banjo is a sweet, cuddly and seriously clever boy who adores people and wants nothing more than to be by your side. With that working-breed brain ticking away in his little noggin, he already knows an impressive repertoire of tricks, and we're certain he has plenty more hits left to learn.

Banjo isn't here to fetch your ball (the chances of it coming back are below zero), and treats are nice but hardly headline material. Affection, attention and time with his person? Now you're playing his song! Because Banjo bonds so strongly with his people, he'd suit someone who is home more often than not - perhaps working from home, working part-time or simply able to include him in plenty of their day. He may not be big on playtime, but around two walks each day will be important to keep his clever brain and busy body happy and healthy. Walking Banjo is also a delight as he doesn't pull on the lead.

Banjo is open to meeting other dogs, although he can be selective about his band mates - a calm, easy-going dog who's happy to coexist without expecting constant play could be his kind of duet!

There is one important verse in Banjo's songbook, also known as 'the fence whisperer'.

On occasion Banjo can be a hairy Houdini when left alone. His new home will need high, secure fencing, or a fully enclosed run if he'll spend longer periods outside unsupervised. Positive crate training could also help him learn that alone time doesn't have to mean going solo on tour.

But at the end of the day, Banjo is a people dog through and through. Give him the security, exercise and time he needs, and he'll happily stick by your side as you navigate your new life together. Because for Banjo, home isn't really about where he is - it's about who he's with.

Post Adoption Life: With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks may surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
