Cookie is a sweet, sensitive boy who thinks the world can be a pretty big and scary place sometimes. He takes a little while to decide that new people are safe, so don’t be surprised if he keeps his distance when you first meet. Just give him time to settle and you’ll eventually unlock a completely different Cookie - one who happily smooches around your legs and suddenly seems very determined to show you just how adorable he can be! Once Cookie knows you, affection becomes serious business. He’ll smooch himself against everything around you, roll around showing off and even do little jumps to meet your hand for a head butt. Thankfully, there are two excellent ways to make friends with him: food and toys. Cookie considers food one of life’s greatest achievements, but feather toys are a very close contender. He loves to play and is happy to give all sorts of toys a go. He’s not a team player though, so don’t expect toys to be return served… Cookie is also a social little guy when it comes to other cats. He previously lived with another cat and he genuinely seems to enjoy their company and is keen to approach and meet potential feline friends, so a friendly, confident cat could be a lovely addition to his future home. Dogs, however, are probably a little too much for him. He’d also appreciate a generous sized litter tray. A calm, quiet home with cat-experienced people who understand that Cookie needs time and space to settle would be his ideal match. He’s also shown plenty of interest in exploring the cat park, so safe access to a secure catio could be something he really enjoys once he’s settled. Cookie may need a little help learning that the world isn’t quite as scary as he thinks, but once he feels safe, you’ll discover a playful, cat-loving, food-obsessed little smoocher who might even meet you halfway for a head butt.

Post Adoption Life: With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks may surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
