Joanne is a quiet little soul who is still learning that the world — and the people in it — aren’t quite as scary as she once thought. She can be timid when meeting someone new and will often choose the safety of a hiding spot while she watches everything from afar. But behind that cautious exterior is a playful, curious girl who is slowly beginning to show us more of herself every day.

And toys are where Joanne really comes alive! Small plush toys are a favourite, and she’s particularly fond of anything involving a spinning ball. Watching her forget her worries and throw herself into playtime gives you a little glimpse of the confident cat hiding underneath that is just waiting to come out of that furry little shell. Cooked chicken is another excellent way to Joanne’s heart, and she’s become brave enough to gently take pieces straight from your hand — a small gesture that feels pretty special when you know how hard she’s been working towards trust.

Affection is something Joanne is still figuring out. She’s only just beginning to discover that pats can actually be quite nice, and for now she’s happiest when she’s allowed to decide how quickly a friendship develops. She isn’t going to be the cat who marches straight up to a stranger demanding cuddles, but that’s part of what will make every milestone with her so rewarding — the first time she stays instead of hiding, the first time she seeks you out, and eventually, the first time she decides that being close to you feels safe.

Joanne is looking for a quiet, experienced home with someone who understands that trust doesn’t need to happen overnight. A home without dogs would be best, while a friendly, confident cat could potentially help show her the ropes and give her some extra reassurance. Joanne may need a little more patience than some cats, but for the right person, there’s something incredibly lovely about being the one who gets to watch this timid little girl realise she’s finally home.
