Meet Joel,

Joel is a sweet, gentle boy who is still finding his confidence and learning that people can be pretty wonderful. He can be shy and a little nervous when meeting someone new, preferring to take his time and figure things out from a safe distance, but if you approach him you'll soon see his sweet, affectionate side emerge - along with a few little meows to let you know what he's thinking. And let us tell you that what he IS thinking, is how wonderful you are!

Once Joel feels comfy, he'll show you a side of him that will instantly melt your heart. He absolutely loves scratches around his ears, face and neck. Get the spot just right and you might even find him rolling onto his back and showing off his glorious belly! He's still getting used to being picked up and feels much safer with all four paws on the ground, but he's making progress as his confidence grows. He may not always walk straight up and ask for affection, but don't worry - you'll know what he wants because Joel has mastered the art of the cutest meow - the power this little noise has over people needs to be studied!

Joel has shown a little curiosity towards small, soft toys, although building his confidence is still higher on his priority list than playtime. The way to his heart might just be through his stomach, with Churu treats and cooked chicken earning particularly high scores! With time to settle, plenty of positive experiences and perhaps a few strategically placed snacks, we think there's a much braver little cat waiting to come out of his shell. But even if you don't have treats Joel is still very easy to persuade.

A calm, quieter home where Joel can settle in at his own pace would suit him beautifully. Older, cat-savvy children who understand when he needs a little space could be a good match, and he may also be able to live with a calm cat or cat-friendly dog after very slow and careful introductions. Joel doesn't need someone to rush him into being brave - just someone patient enough to let him get there in his own time. Give this sweet boy the chance to feel safe, and you'll be rewarded with every little purr, belly roll and meow along the way.
