The Appin Massacre memorial service held at Cataract Dam is to remember the Dharawal people who perished in the Massacre in 1816.

New date -  Sunday 1 May 2022

Appin Massacre memorial service at Cataract Dam

Community members, friends and families are invited to attend the event from 11am until around 3.30pm.

  • There will be a free BBQ
  • The organisers will do their best to cater for everyone - but you are welcome to bring a picnic - especially if you have special dietary requirements
  • Formalities take place near the dam wall so wear comfortable shoes and bring some water
  • Transport down to the formalities will be available for anyone with mobility needs.

Appin Massacre Memorial Flag Raising Ceremony

Campbelltown City Council also holds a memorial flag raising ceremony in the forecourt of the Campbelltown City Council building. The ceremony will be held on Thursday 14 April 2022 to remember those who perished and to show Council's commitment to Reconciliation.
