Dr George Greiss will continue as Mayor of Campbelltown for a further year while Cr Masud Khalil has been elected Deputy Mayor following a vote of councillors at last night’s Council meeting.

Dr Greiss and Cr Khalil will serve until the 2024 Local Government Elections, to be held in September next year.

First elected to Council in 2008, Dr Greiss has served as Mayor since January 2022. Cr Khalil was first elected in 2021.

“It’s been an honour to serve as Mayor and I look forward to continuing to build on some of the exciting work that has happened over the past year and a half, including our extensive community engagement program, advocacy work and city beautification program,” Dr Greiss said.

“The next 12 months promise to be another exciting period for our city and I am keen to share some of the wonderful projects and programs we have coming up while also continuing to work with Council staff to drive positive and community-focused change,” he said.

“I’d like to thank Cr Josh Cotter for his efforts and dedication as Deputy Mayor and am excited to work with Cr Khalil over the next year with the support of our fellow councillors.”
