Have your say on Broughton Street Cycleway project

Campbelltown residents are invited to help shape a major new walking and cycling connection, with community consultation now open on the concept plan for Stage 1 of the Broughton Street Cycleway.
The Broughton Street Cycleway is a planned 2.2-kilometre walking and cycling corridor that will link Campbelltown City Centre with Smiths Creek Reserve and the Georges River, creating a safer and more accessible route for people walking, riding and enjoying the outdoors.
The first stage of the project is proposed between Waminda Avenue and Smiths Creek Reserve at Georges River Road and includes a dedicated cycleway, upgraded footpaths, pedestrian crossings, street tree plantings, lighting, seating and other public domain improvements.
"As our city grows, it's important that we continue to invest in infrastructure that supports healthy lifestyles, improves connectivity and provides more transport choices for our residents," Mayor of Campbelltown Darcy Lound said.
“We’re excited to present this concept plan to the community so we can hear your feedback on the first stage of the project,” Cr Lound said.
Minister for Planning and Public Spaces Paul Scully said the NSW Government has invested $940,351 towards the design and construction of the $1.8 million cycleway through the Metropolitan Greenspace Program which will improve Campbelltown’s connectivity and amenity.
“Our Metropolitan Greenspace Program helps councils create vibrant and sustainable communities with greater access to green spaces, transport hubs, and homes, Mr Scully said.
“Local residents will now be able to more easily access Smiths Creek Reserve to go for a cycle, bushwalk, admire the rare endangered Shale-Sandstone Transition Forest or spot a koala on their travels.”
Campbelltown MP Greg Warren said that by working together with Campbelltown City Council, we are working to deliver improved multimodal connectivity around our city.
“Residents will be able to have greater access to some of our fantastic local spaces, such as Smiths Creek Reserve. I would encourage all interested residents to have their say on this project” Mr Warren said.
The Broughton Street Cycleway Project Stage 1 is proudly funded by the NSW Government in association with Campbelltown City Council.
Community consultation will close on Wednesday 5 August 2026.

About the Broughton Street Cycleway Project
The Broughton Street Cycleway is a multi-stage project that will deliver a critical east–west connection from the Campbelltown City Centre to the suburbs of Airds and Ruse, and to the recreation trails within Smiths Creek Reserve and the Georges River Parklands. The project creates better access to open space connecting the cycleway network from Campbelltown Station to Smiths Creek Nature Reserve and the regional trail network.
The project includes the construction of a dedicated cycleway, new and upgraded footpaths, pedestrian crossings, additional street tree plantings, and enhanced public amenities such as raingardens, seating and lighting.
