People with Disability

One in five Australians have a disability and most people will experience some type of disability in their lifetime.

We believe that everyone, including people with a disability have the right to participate and contribute to a society and live a good life.

In Campbelltown we need to ensure that everyone in our community feels included, valued and confident to enjoy everything our city has to offer.

Campbelltown City Disability Inclusion Action Plan - DIAP

The Disability Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP) 2022 - 2026(PDF, 1MB) identifies and commits Council to a proactive approach to implementing, reviewing and monitoring initiatives and outcomes over a four-year period.

DIAP includes practical ways to increase physical access and promote public information and engagement opportunities for people with disabilities.  And where Council is acknowledged as an employer of people with disability.

DIAP guides Council's strategic approach to inclusion with the following four focus areas:

  • Developing positive community attitudes and behaviours
  • Creating liveable communities
  • Supporting access to meaningful employment
  • Improving Council’s internal systems and processes to increase opportunities for people with disabilities.

Council is also committed to:

  • Facilitation of the DIAP Working Group
  • Compulsory disability awareness training for all Council staff
  • Provision of information in alternative formats as required.
  • AUSLAN interpreters on request.
