Here’s a list of the databases that we have for you, showing what subjects each one covers, so you can chose which ones are best for your research.

Academic Search Premier – gives you information from academic journals and books, for in-depth, serious research on a wide variety of subjects. Good for tertiary level research.

ANZ reference Centre – book extracts, newspapers, magazines, newswires on every subject. Up-to-date information with an Australian emphasis. This is where to get newspaper articles for your assignment.

ANZ Points of View – covers more than 270 topics, each with an explanation and summary of the issue, points (argument), counterpoints (opposing argument), and Critical Thinking Guide. Great for essays and debates.

Consumer Health Complete – covers health and medicine, both mainstream and complementary. From simple fact sheets to the latest research, this database has carefully vetted medical information.

eBook Public Library Collection – a collection of nearly 41,000 titles which features fiction titles for all ages. Non-fiction titles cover a wide range of topics.

Greenfile – covers environmental topics like climate change, pollution, renewable energy and much more.

History Reference Center – contains thousands of full text documents covering world history. Very user friendly interface.

Hobbies & Craft Reference Center – provides detailed 'how-to' instructions and ideas for a wide range of hobbies and crafts. Full text is available for a number of leading hobby and craft magazines.

Literary Reference Center Plus – information on literary works, authors, poets and playwrights. Biographies, analysis and criticism of works, and some works in full text. Great for those English essays.

Masterfile Complete – up-to-date information on every subject from books, newspapers, magazines and other sources. This database covers international news and issues. For Australian news, use ANZ Reference Centre.

Multicultural Health Communication Service (MHCS) – provides information about health issues and health services to people who speak languages other than English.

National Construction Code (formerly Building Code) – contains technical provisions for the design and construction of buildings and other structures. This site is free to access from anywhere, you just need to create your own log in.

NoveList – has so much fascinating information about popular books and authors. Find books by title, series, author, readership (adult, teen, child), genre (westerns, fantasy, thriller). Find where to start when trying something new, discover new authors and more.

Science Reference Center– covers biology, chemistry, physics, history of science, scientist biographies, experiments and lots more. Reliable information from encyclopedias, reference books, text books and science magazines.
