Uncle Ivan Wellington a voice of Campbelltown

Voices of Campbelltown Video

Uncle Ivan has devoted his life to educating the community, particularly to encourage and mentor young people, about local Aboriginal culture and has been an integral voice in our projects such as the Campbelltown 2020 Yarning Circle.

Discussions include: History of 200 years, growing up on the mission, traveling to heal, coming to Campbelltown and starting work with the Department of Juvenile Justice. Further on becoming involved with scholarships and people taking up professional positions. As a young boy becoming involved in learning from his elders, recognising and respecting Country and ancestors. Uncle Ivan also talks about Campbelltown's Aboriginal History, the Kentlyn Bull Cave, Dharawal National Park, the massacre site at Cataract Dam and shares how the 200 year milestone is important.

A documentary by: Tom and Jeff McGill to help Council celebrate 200 Years of Campbelltown in 2020.
