Step 2.Preparing for an interview

Interview questions are generally based around the selection criteria and are designed to help the selection panel assess how well you are suited to the position.

Most interview questions are designed to draw out examples of your previous experience and behaviours. This typically involves asking behavioural based questions which require you to provide examples of situations from your own experience, what action you took to resolve these situations and the results you achieved. You may also be required to complete a practical task.

At the end of your interview, you will have a chance to ask the panel any questions you may have relating to the position.

Step 3.Pre-employment checks

These checks are carried out for the interviewees who progress to the next stage of the recruitment process.

Pre-employment checks include:

  • Referee checks
  • Pre-employment health assessment
  • Evidence of Right to Work in Australia
  • Working with Children's Check (if relevant)
  • Check of qualifications
  • Notification of the outcome of your application

Step 4.Notification of the outcome of your application

All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application via email by Human Resources.

Keep copies of your application

Make sure to save a copy of the job advertisement, job description, your cover letter and job application for each role you apply for. They will be helpful references should your application progress to the interview stage.

Each role we advertise, has a set of questions which help us to get to know you better. These may be text responses or multiple choice with answers for you to pick from a drop-down menu.

The STAR technique can help you structure your responses.

Situation: Provide an example of a situation you were in.

Task: Outline the task you had.

Action: Describe what actions you took to address the situation.

Result: Tell us what outcome you achieved.
