Meet Prince Charming,

True to his name, Prince Charming is a sweet, sensitive soul who's ready to steal your heart! This lovely boy is looking for a calm, quiet home where he can truly shine – he's best suited to experienced dog owners who understand his gentle ways and can offer him the peaceful environment he thrives in.

Prince is a gentle-natured boy who’s friendly, affectionate, and eager to be part of your world. He’s a curious explorer who loves engaging with his people and has a soft, agreeable personality that makes him a real pleasure to be around. While he enjoys moments of playfulness and can get a little excitable now and then, but he’s overall an easy-going dog who appreciates the simple things – like a sunny spot to relax in or a nice stroll around the neighbourhood.

He’d be a great match for an active person or family who enjoys getting outside for regular walks. Prince is also quite the socialite – he’s always keen to make new friends. If you're after a sweet, affectionate dog who’ll love being part of your everyday life, come and meet Prince Charming – he might just be the one you’ve been waiting for!

Ideal Home: Prince is suitable to live in a standalone home or on a farm/acerage, with a medium to large yard & high, secure fencing.

Family: Prince Charming is open to meet kids from 13 years & up. Prince is an overall lovely dog whose very keen to make friends with you, but he has a few quirks which may see him unsuitable for smaller children. For example, he's a little afraid of loud noises & big movements if he's not expecting them.

Prince Charming is fine to spend time in the yard on his own but he is a big softy who would enjoy spending time with his family more than anything. Prince is fine to live with people who work full-time.

Furry Friends: Prince Charming has thrown us a bit of a curve ball with his dog assessment. We have put him down as 'best as only dog - for now' for a few reasons. He's eager to interact but when he eventually does meet the other dog it's like he doesn't know what to do with himself. He needs a little more socialisation so ensure that he doesn't get stressed around other dogs. He's fine to walk around other dogs, but we'd like to see his confidence rise before he goes home with another dog.

As we cannot test in this environment, we are unsure how Prince would go living with/meeting cats & pocket pets. This would be up to the discretion of his new owners.

Training & Development: Prince Charming would benefit from post-adoption training such as training at home to cover basic commands/obedience. Group classes would also be good too, to ensure that he learns proper manners & ways to manage stress when faced with another dog - this should only be considered when he has settled into his new home.

Prince is still learning his name, but he knows commands such as: sit. He is clever & trainable. He is food motivated too, and is known to be gentle when taking treats from you - so having treats on you during training to mark good behaviour would be an excellent idea.

We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.

Play: Prince Charming has mid-range energy needs & would benefit from exercise, play, or walks from 20-60mins a day to keep him happy & healthy. Prince shows interest in playing with toys - he seems to like playing with soft toys. He also really likes personal play with his handlers & cuddles.

Prince Charming walks well on lead - he likes to take his time and take in the scenery. He is best to be walked on a harness or collar.

Staff Comments:
Prince Charming is a sweet boy who can be a little timid with loud/unexpected movements/objects. He's a big softy, though. He loves cuddles and just needs a patient, special someone to help him navigate the world. Overall he is a quiet dog who rarely barks and rarely jumps.

The 3-3-3 Rule of Adopting a Dog

Post Adoption Life: With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks may surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
