The Fisher’s Ghost Fun Run may not be getting you out in the sunshine in November this year, but don’t let that stop you training! Stay tuned for further details on next year's events.

Major Festival of Fisher's Ghost events cancelled

Due to COVID-19 health restrictions on public gatherings, the Fun Run will not go ahead this year.

Our annual Fisher's Ghost Art Award and other smaller events will still be held, check out what's on to celebrate the legend.


The Marsdens Law Group Fisher’s Ghost Fun Run is a community event that is part of Campbelltown’s annual Festival of Fisher’s Ghost, attracting a large field of competitive and social participants.

Participants can chose either the 5km or 10km course(2MB, PDF) over rolling and scenic race course on the grounds of Western Sydney University, Campbelltown Campus.

Walkers are welcome to participate over either distance.

Event Details for 2021

Entries on the day

Entries on the day will be registered from 6.30am near the start line. Race bibs will not be issued after 7.45am.


Walkers are welcome in either the 5km or 10km(2MB, PDF) event, however they must complete the course by 10.00am.

Baggage minding

Free secure baggage minding will be provided next to the registration area.

Water stations

On course and finish line water stations are available.


The Rotary Club of Campbelltown will provide a BBQ service, selling food and drinks to raise funds for their community and youth projects.

Trophy presentation and barrel draw

The presentation ceremony will be held in the registration area from approx. 9.45am.

Free t-shirt

A free dri-wear event t-shirt will be available to all finishers (or until stock runs out).

Race bibs

Please read the following information carefully.

  • Timing chips are attached to the race bibs which are used for this event.
  • The race bib must be securely tied to the front of your race t-shirt/singlet attire.
  • Failure to bring your race bib on the day will result in a fee for replacement.

Child minding

Child minding is available on the day for children aged 4 to 12 years. Bookings are required.


All entrants who complete their event will be eligible for a finisher’s certificate (available online only). Race results and finisher’s certificates can be downloaded after the event.  

Entering the Event on Race Day

Before registering please review the event rules and conditions.

  • Participants must go to the Late Registration Area at the race venue concourse area
  • Race bib can be collected at Late Registration Area Entries will be available at 6.30am at the registration on the event day
  • If you are already registered - all bibs must be collected from race venue concourse area(682KB, PDF) or on Race Day. You must show your E-ticket and a valid identity card to collect your race bib.

Line honours

Medals and prizes will be awarded to the outright 1st, 2nd and 3rd male and female placegetters for both distances.

NOTE: Outright winners and placegetters are not eligible for an age category award.

Age categories

Trophies will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd male and female placegetters in the following age categories:

5km 10km
  • 7yrs to 9yrs (minimum age is 7yrs)

Walkers are welcome to participate in either event, but there is a cut off time of two hours.

Event Rules and Conditions

  1. All decisions by the Race Director are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  2. If a participant does not complete the event they are entered into (i.e. 5km or 10km)(2MB, PDF) by the 10am finishing time, they will be listed as DID NOT FINISH and will not have a time recorded (all changes must be made prior to 7.45am on event day)
  3. A separate signed entry or online entry is required for each entrant.
  4. Entrants with strollers must start from the designated STROLLER START AREA (well behind the start line) to ensure safe, injury free start for all. Please ensure you collect your STROLLER BIB from Information Desk on event day.
  5. Entry fees are not refundable.
  6. All Line Honours placegetters will be ineligible for age category awards.
  7. Pets are not allowed.
  8. Timing bibs will be utilised for this event.
  9. The timing bib must be securely tied to the front of t-shirt/singlet attire.
  10. If an entrant fails to bring a timing bib to the event, replacements will be issued with an additional $45 fee.
  11. Prevent littering by using the waste bins provided.
  12. Team categories and students from TAFE NSW and WSU cannot register on race day.
  13. Only individual entries will be accepted on race day (before 7.45am).
Team Competition Rules
  1. A team can have any number of members beyond the minimum of four.
  2. All team members must compete the same distance.
  3. The combined times of the first four members of the team to cross the finish line will be used to determine the fastest team result.
  4. All 'in person' team entries must be submitted by 4.30pm TBC 2021, together in one envelope.
  5. All online team entries close TBC 2021.
  6. Entrants can only be a member of one team.
  7. Only school students from the same school are eligible to be a member of a school team.
  8. Largest Team will be awarded to the team with the most finishers across the finish line in less than 90 minutes.
  9. Fitness Team can either be non-commercial or commercial group.
  10. It is the team coordinator's responsibility to check all team members registrations are in the correct team category prior to competition. No team changes are permitted on race day.

General event information

Where is the race?
The race will take place in the combined grounds of the Western Sydney University and TAFE NSW campuses at Campbelltown – enter via Narellan Rd.

What are the age limits for the races?
– minimum age is 7 years old.
10km (Loop the race course twice) – Participants must be 12 years or above on race day.

What are the start times of each race?
– 8.00am.
10km – 8.00am.

How do I know if my payment has been processed online?
You can confirm your entry online.

Where else can I pay my entry fee?

In person at

  • Campbelltown City Council (Customer Service Centre - Ground Floor, Cnr Queen and Broughton Streets, Campbelltown. Opening hours 8.30am to 4.30pm Mon - Fri)
  • Eagle Vale Central (Customer Service Centre, Emerald Drive, Eagle Vale from 9.00am to 8.30pm Mon - Fri, 8.00am to 5.30pm Saturdays and 7.30am to 4.30pm Sundays).

How much does it cost to participate?
The cost for entering the 2021 fun run will be available soon.

Is my entry fee refundable or transferrable?
No, entry fees are not refundable or transferable.

When do I get my race bib?
All bibs must be collected from the race venue concourse area(682KB, PDF) or on Race Day. You must show your E-ticket and a valid identity card to collect your race bib.

What happens if I lose my race bib before the event?
A replacement race bib will be issued on race day at an additional fee.

Can teams enter to run?
Teams can enter to run either the 5km or 10km race.  A team can have any number of members beyond the minimum of four however all team members must compete over the same distance. See our team competition rules.

Can teams enter on the day of the event?
No. Teams must submit their entries in person or online before registration closing date.  

Do the school team participants have to be from the same school?
Yes, students must be from the same Primary or High School to be eligible to race together as a team. Teachers and parents cannot be part of a school team however they can enter as an Open team.

Can teams be mixed gender?
Yes all teams can comprise of both males and females.

Preparation for Race Day

What should I wear to run?
Please put on proper sportswear and running shoes. Remember to put the chest plate on your chest clearly visible at all times during the race to enable race officials to identify your race number. 

Start, Course & Finish

Can my friend(s), pet(s) or children run with me?
Friends and children can run with you if they are registered in the event. Domestic pets, rollerblades, skates, scooters, skateboards and bikes are not permitted in the5km or 10km events.(2MB, PDF)

Will there be cut off times for the races?
Yes. In order to provide an orderly organised competition for participants, the cut off time will be set at 10.00am.

Is the course very hilly?
Situated in Campbelltown, the 5km and 10km events are held at the Western Sydney University and TAFE NSW Campbelltown campuses(2MB, PDF) with scenic views of the city and surrounding hills. A gradual incline course has been designed which navigates the two campuses and weaves around the roads within both venues.

Where are the drink stations located?
There are drink stations strategically located around the course.(2MB, PDF)

What type of fluids will be provided around the course?
Water is the only drink provided at the stations along the course(2MB, PDF) and at the finish area.

Will there be any other goodies supplied as part of entering?
Yes, a dri-wear T-shirt is provided for free to every paid participant once you finish the race. Must show your race bib prior to collecting shirt.

Where are the first aid stations?
First aid stations will be located(2MB, PDF) at the Start/Finish Area and on the TAFE NSW campus

Where are the toilets located?
There will be port-a-loos on course, and on the concourse area near Late Registration.

Will there be food and refreshment at the event?
The Rotary Club of Campbelltown will provide a BBQ service, selling food and drinks to raise funds for their community and youth projects. A coffee van will be also selling coffee and tea for you to purchase.

Child Minding

Is there child minding on the day? 
Yes, free child minding is available from 7.15am to 10.00am for race participants. Child must be aged 4 to 12 years. You must indicate your preference for child minding on your entry.  

Baggage Store and Lost Property

Where can I store my bags during the race?
Bag storage facility will be offered on event day. The bag storage will be located on the concourse area near the Late Registration area.

What do I do if I find lost property and how do I collect lost property? 
Lost property can be taken to the Late Registration area. At the end of the event lost items will be taken to the Event Coordinator and logged at Campbelltown City Council. All lost property will be kept for a minimum of two weeks at Campbelltown City Council before it is donated to charity.

Medals and Certificates

Do you receive any awards for participating?
Yes, there will be a participation certificate awarded to all finishers. The certificate will not be posted to you. You can download your finisher’s certificate on our website by typing in your race bib number or full name.

Will there be any presentations?
Yes, medal and prize presentations will commence for age and team category winners.


Can I see the official photos that are taken on the day?
Yes, photos will be uploaded to our Events in Campbelltown Facebook page after the event.

Can I purchase photos that are taken on the day?
Yes, by entering your chest plate number or last name into the official Marathon Photos box your photos will be displayed for purchase.

Transport and Parking

How can I get to the event?
By car – The venue is located in Campbelltown 1km east of the M5.

By train – Macarthur railway station is only five minutes from the Fun Run registration area.

Where can you park at the venue & cost?
Car parking is available in the University grounds via Narellan Rd. No traffic will be allowed to exit the University grounds until all competitors have completed the course at 10.00am.
If you need to exit before 10.00am, you may want to park on the other side of Macarthur train station and walk across to the University.
Parking is free of charge between 6.00am - 1.00pm as UWS will be waiving its fee.

Is there parking for patrons with disabilities?
Accessible parking spaces are limited and will be available upon request.
