Be part of the effort to restore critically endangered bushland and help plant 1000 native trees and shrubs this National Tree Day at Milton Park, Macquarie Fields, on Sunday, 27 July.
Registrations are now open for the event, which will be held from 10am to 2pm near the softball fields.
The bushland at Milton Park is home to critically endangered Cumberland Plain Woodland, which has benefited from more than 9000 native stems planted in the area during recent National Tree Day events
“National Tree Day is a chance to get involved and do your part to help these important regenerative efforts at Milton Park,” Mayor Darcy Lound said.
“Projects like this provide valuable habitat for local native species and help keep our bushland healthy, improving the amenity for people living in the area,” Cr Lound said.
“This is also a great opportunity to learn more about Council’s Bushcare volunteer program and how you can get involved in our ongoing efforts to protect and enhance bushland in your suburb,” he said.
The event is being held in partnership with Greening Australia, as well as the Redfern Creek Bushcare Group and local schools.
People attending are encouraged to wear a hat, long pants, enclosed shoes and bring drinking water.
