Entries open for Threatened Species Art and Writing Competition

Published on 12 July 2023

Entries are now open for children to submit a creative artwork or short story in the Threatened Species Art and Writing Competition.

Celebrating the amazing diversity of the Macarthur region’s plants and animals, the competition is open to children ages 5 to 12 from across the Campbelltown, Camden and Wollondilly areas.

“We are fortunate to have a variety of plant and animal species in our region that contribute to a valuable ecosystem,” Mayor George Greiss said.

“This competition is important to help educate and encourage children to take an interest in preserving our flora and fauna while also showcasing their artistic and writing talent to the wider community,” Cr Greiss said.

Artworks and creative writing pieces must feature a local endangered plant or animal from the Macarthur region.

Teachers and parents can also access a resource kit to help students participate in the competition.

Entries close on 4 August.
