School Athletics Carnivals

Campbelltown Athletics Centre
Campbelltown Athletics Centre

Campbelltown Sports Stadium is one of a handful of synthetic athletics tracks in Sydney, so why not take advantage and use it for your school athletics carnival.

An all weather synthetic track means that rain, hail or shine your carnival can go ahead.

It is a good idea to contact us to look at availability of the venue, however bookings can not be taken over the phone as an application is required.

To apply to use the venue please use our online forms: Athletics Centre hire enquiries of Event Participant Data.

Can a school book a wet weather backup date?

Campbelltown Athletics Centre is usually booked out in Term 2 and Term 3 of the school calendar so therefore wet weather back up dates can not be booked.

If it rains will the facility be closed and the carnival cancelled?

Campbelltown Athletics Centre comprises an international standard all weather synthetic athletics track. It also has under cover spectators seating for 850 spectators.

  • There is no reason other than for participant and official comfort that a carnival needs to be cancelled due to wet weather.
  • Schools may opt not to run certain events such as high jump or hurdles, if the participants do not have suitable footwear or are inexperienced.

At times the ground staff may close grassed in-field area for throwing events or tabloid activities if it is deemed unsafe or susceptible to damage but this would only occur in situations of continual heavy rain and/or flooding.

What equipment does the school need to provide?

All athletics equipment is supplied and set up by a Campbelltown Collegians Athletics Club Representative. They will contact the organising school prior to the carnival day to ascertain what equipment is required. There is an additional fee for this service.

Do I need to arrange keys to access the facility

No, schools are not issued with keys, except in extreme circumstances. The facility will be opened and closed by a representative from Campbelltown Collegians Athletics Club.

What first aid facilities and equipment are available?

All schools are responsible for their own first aid equipment and first aid officers.

Is there a PA system or do schools need to bring their own?

There is an integrated PA system at the venue, so there is no need to bring your own.

Does the facility have its own risk assessment for athletics carnivals that schools can use?

No, schools are required to undertake their own risk assessments for their carnival.

Will the canteen facilities open?

A canteen will be in operation which sells food and beverages if the school has requested this.

Can my school have a fundraising BBQ?

Due to contractual arrangements, outside catering is not allowed throughout Campbelltown Sports Stadium and this includes BBQs, therefore any requests to hold a fundraising BBQ will be declined.

Is there parking for teachers and officials?

There is ample parking for teachers and officials.

  • There is a 60 space car park located at the Pembroke Road entry.
  • For large school carnivals teachers and officials may also park within the stadium.
  • Due to safety reasons parking behind the Athletics Centre grandstand is restricted to Stadium staff only.

Where can parents park?

The size of the event will dictate where parking will be available.

  • If the car parking at Pembroke Road is full, parking can be found in the commuter car park of Old Leumeah Road.
  • There is also ample parking in the commuter car park off Airds Road, Leumeah.
  • Access from this car park is via the Leumeah Railway Station and will take approximately 5-10 minutes to walk to the Athletics Centre.

Will I get fined if I park illegally?

Yes, Council Rangers monitor all of Council's car parks. You take the risk of a fine if you choose to park illegally.
