The Campbelltown City Council Art Collection comprises over 1,600 artworks by more than 650 artists.

It is focused on major artworks by leading contemporary artists from, living in, or closely connected to Western Sydney and from around Australia.

Principal areas of development include works that focus on community-based practice and the rich artistic heritage of Western Sydney. The Collection also prioritises collecting significant works by leading Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists.

With it’s beginnings in 1962, the Collection has been developed through purchase, donation, bequests, and the annual Fisher’s Ghost Art Award’s acquisitive Open Award.

A key aim of the Collection is to reflect the collective experiences and wisdom of the creative communities that the Arts Centre serves.

Through the development and management of the Collection, Campbelltown Arts Centre aims to honour community voices and increase understanding of contemporary and multidisciplinary artistic practice in Western Sydney and Australia.

The Collection is made accessible to the public through dedicated collection and temporary exhibitions on-site at Campbelltown Arts Centre, as well as through an active program of loans, touring exhibitions, creative learning, education, and digital initiatives.

The Collection is developed and managed in close alignment with the Creative Campbelltown Cultural Strategy 2024–2030 and Campbelltown Arts Centre’s Strategic Plan 2025–2028.
