Students in Years 9-12 are invited to join us for an enriching Artist Intensive Day with award winning ceramic artist and educator Lynda Draper and the Campbelltown Arts Centre Education team.

This immersive experience will take students on a dynamic journey of creativity and artistic expression, beginning with a guided gallery tour of Draper’s solo exhibition, ‘Glimmer’, followed by a hands-on practical workshop in ceramics facilitated by the artist, before engaging in a reflective writing session with CAC educators designed to challenge student thinking and strengthen their ability to analyse and respond to artworks.

EXPLORE THE EXHIBITION & ENGAGE WITH THE ARTIST

Kick off the day with an inspiring guided tour of ‘Glimmer’, Lynda Draper’s solo exhibition showcasing key works from her four-decade career. Led by Draper and the CAC team, students will uncover the curatorial vision and artistic narrative behind her dreamlike ceramic sculptures, works that evoke fragility, nostalgia, and transformation.

This is a fantastic opportunity for students to engage directly with the artist, curators, and educators, encouraging questions and fostering meaningful discussions.

CREATE YOUR OWN CERAMIC SCULPTURE

Following the exhibition tour, students will participate in a practical ceramic workshop facilitated by Draper and CAC Educators. Working with clay, students will explore the tactile possibilities of the medium and experiment with form, texture, and expression.

Inspired by Draper’s unique approach to materiality and storytelling, this workshop provides a nourishing space for students to create their own ceramic pieces, blending imagination with technique in a supportive, artist-led environment.

CRITICALLY ENGAGE WITH ARTWORKS IN A WRITING WORKSHOP

To complete the day, students will take part in a reflective writing workshop led by CAC Educators, designed to deepen their engagement with the exhibition. Building a toolkit of strategies for responding to contemporary art, students will examine how audiences experience artworks, analyse wall labels and curatorial texts, and consider multiple perspectives through the Visual Arts Frames and Conceptual Framework. This session encourages critical thinking and provides practical skills for writing about art, equipping students with greater confidence and clarity in developing their own responses.

Don’t miss out on this enriching opportunity to learn from a leading artist and immerse yourself in the world of contemporary art!
