Join us during NAIDOC Week, this year held from 7 - 14 July 2024 and help us celebrate the history, culture and achievements of our First Nations Community at Campbelltown's NAIDOC week celebrations.

About NAIDOC Week

NAIDOC Week is a time to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, culture and achievements and recognise the contribution Indigenous Australians make to our country and our local communities.

The 2024 National NAIDOC Week theme is Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud.

This year's theme celebrates the unyielding spirit of our communities and invites all to stand in solidarity, amplifying the voices that have long been silenced.

The fire represents the enduring strength and vitality of Indigenous cultures passed down through generations, despite the challenges faced. It is a symbol of connection to the land, to each other, and to the rich tapestry of traditions that define Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. As we honour this flame, we kindle the sparks of pride and unity, igniting a renewed commitment to acknowledging, preserving, and sharing the cultural heritage that enriches our nation.

"Blak, Loud and Proud" encapsulates the unapologetic celebration of Indigenous identity, empowering us to stand tall in our heritage and assert our place in the modern world. This theme calls for a reclamation of narratives, an amplification of voices, and an unwavering commitment to justice and equality. It invites all Australians to listen, learn, and engage in meaningful dialogue, fostering a society where the wisdom and contributions of Indigenous peoples are fully valued and respected.

2024 NAIDOC Week program

On Monday 8 July at 9.30am a special community flag raising ceremony will be held at the Campbelltown City Council Forecourt to commemorate NAIDOC week.

Participants are then encouraged to join us for the procession through Queen Street to Campbelltown Arts Centre. This will take place at approximately 10:30am and will depart from the front of the Civic Centre building. A vehicle is available to transport those unable to walk.

Join us for the Community Connection Day held at the Campbelltown Arts Centre from 11am to 3pm with stalls, cultural activities, workshops, food and performances.

On Tuesday 9 July residents are encouraged to visit the NAIDOC Week Touch Football match at Sarah Redfern Oval in Minto. From 9am to 3pm, participants will be able to cheer on the players while enjoying a sausage roll BBQ.
