About NAIDOC Week

NAIDOC Week is a time to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, culture and achievements and recognise the contributions our Indigenous Australians make to our country and our communities across the Nation.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are proud to have a history of getting up, standing up, and showing up. From the early days of the frontier wars and early resistance fighters and activists to our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities continuing to fight for change today—they continue to show up. Now is the time. We, as a nation, cannot afford to lose momentum for change. We all must continue to Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up! for systemic change and keep rallying around our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, Elders and communities.
