Litter From Vehicles

Council Rangers patrol the Local Government Area and regularly detect motorists
depositing various forms of litter such as cigarette butts and food wrappers from
motor vehicles. This litter may be harmful to our environment and contributes to
stormwater pollution.

Motorists or their passengers who litter from vehicles are liable to fines of up to $900.
These fines are issued to the registered owner of the vehicle, unless the owner nominates
another responsible person.

Rangers educate the community on the problem of littering from vehicles through media
releases and Compliance Programs.
