Meet Cady,
Cady is a sweet young pup who has already shown us just how far she’s come. When she first arrived, she was a little shy, but with time and encouragement she has blossomed into a happy, friendly girl. While she can still be startled by loud noises, she recovers quickly and is learning every day that the world isn’t so scary. With a calm and quiet home to start, Cady will continue to build her confidence and thrive.
Curious, playful, and wonderfully social with both people and other dogs, Cady is full of fun and energy. She’s affectionate, and loves to engage with you, always trying her best during training sessions – especially when treats are involved! Whether with first-time owners or experienced ones, Cady is ready to bring her playful, excitable spirit into a loving home where she can continue to grow.
Ideal Home: Cady is fine to live in either a townhouse, standalone home, or farm/acerage with a medium-large yard and high, secure fencing.
Family: Cady is open to meet kids from 5-8 years and up. Reason for this is because Cady is sensitive to loud noises - so older children will be more mindful of her needs.
Cady is fine to live with people who work full-time or part-time hours as she shows no signs of separation anxiety. She is able to spend time in the yard on her own, but would also love to be inside with her new family too.
Furry Friends: Cady is open to meet other dogs. She is young, eager to interact and make friends - she loves playing with her siblings but would be best suited with another dog who gives her space and is happy to co-exist without the need for playing all the time.
As we cannot test in this environment, we are unsure how Cady would go living with/meeting cats and pocket pets. This would be up to the discretion of her new owners.
Training & Development: Cady would benefit from post-adoption training such as training at home to cover basic commands/obedience. Group classes should also be considered so that she can continue to learn manners when interacting and playing with other dogs. Cady should be enrolled into puppy training classes as soon as she is adopted. These classes & training will set her up for life and will allow her to learn social skills & etiquette, as well as define her manners. These classes & training will also teach her how to appropriately interact with other dogs as well as other animals & people. These training classes will also assist her new owner, as they can both learn new skills together.
With additional training and time to settle into a new routine, Cady could be the type of dog that you can take to a dog friendly café or social setting.
Cady is still learning her name, but she knows commands such as sit. She is eager to learn more and is trying her best to learn more, too.
She is food motivated and is gentle when taking treats from you - so having treats on you during training to mark good behaviour would be an excellent idea. She is very responsive to treats.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Cady, being young, has mid-range energy needs & would benefit from exercise, play, or walks from 20-30mins a day to keep her healthy and happy. Cady enjoys playing with toys - she likes soft toys and rope toys - she also likes going for walks, social time with other dogs, and personal play with her handlers.
Cady walks well on lead with some pulling. She is best to be walked on a harness or martingale.
Staff Comments: Gentle, affectionate, and social with both people and dogs, she’s ready to find a calm, loving home where she can keep on growing. Cady is still young and had a rough start to life. When she and her litter mates arrived at our facility, they were all heartbreakingly underweight and under socialised. Cady has grown into such a wonderful girl and we are so excited for her to find her new home.

The 3-3-3 Rule of Adopting a Dog
Post Adoption Life: With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks may surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
