Meet Massi,

Massi is an absolute sweetheart with a gentle nature and a big heart. He’d be a great match for first-time dog owners and would thrive in a calm, relaxed home. Always up for an outing, Massi loves his walks and enjoys socialising with both people and other dogs.

Friendly, easy-going, and affectionate, Massi is the kind of dog who gets along with just about everyone. He’s playful and social without being demanding, and he has a lovely way of sharing his affection equally with everyone around him.

This mild-mannered gentleman is respectful, well-behaved, and full of warmth. With his happy personality and loving nature, Massi is sure to bring a wonderful energy to any home lucky enough to have him.

Ideal Home: Massi is suitable to live in a townhouse, standalone home or on a farm/acerage, with a medium to large yard, and high secure fencing.

Family: Massi is open to meet kids from 5 years and up - reason for this is that he loves to give cuddles to anyone he meets and he may knock smaller kids over.

Massi is fine to live with people who work part-time hours, or someone who is home more often than not. Although he shows no signs of separation anxiety he is totally in love with people and loves to be around you. He is able to spend time in the yard on his own, but would also like to be inside with his new family, too.

Furry Friends: Massi is dog social and is open to meet other dogs. During his dog assessment he had a nice, loose body. Play bows were exchanged and he got so excited to make friends that he could get but get the zoomies. He was able to disengage from play time and make sure that his handler wasn't feeling left out, too. He is a respectful dog who is social and very aware of the needs of other dogs and people.

As we cannot test in this environment, we are unsure if Massi would be suitable to live with cats and/or pocket pets. This would be up to the discretion of his new owners.

Training & Development: Massi would benefit from post-adoption training such as training at home to cover basic commands/obedience. He is mild mannered but may jump on you, on occasion. He is smart though and is learning that this behaviour is not ideal. Group classes would also be beneficial for Massi, so that the dog social skills he already has don't get rusty.

With additional training and time to settle into a new routine, Massi is the type of dog that you could take to a dog friendly café or social event.

Massi is still learning his name, but he knows commands such as sit, down and shake.

He is food motivated, so having treats on you during training to mark good behaviour would still be an excellent idea. Massi is also gentle when taking treats from you.

We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.

Play: Massi has mid-range energy needs & would benefit from exercise or walks from 20-60mins a day to keep him healthy and content. Massi doesn't really play with toys, he prefers to go for walks, meet up with other dogs for social time or simply likes being near you.

Massi walks well on lead with minimal pulling. He is best to be walked on either a harness or collar and lead.

Staff Comments: Massi is an adorable and affectionate boy who absolutely loves being around people. He’s always ready for a cuddle and makes sure everyone gets their fair share of his affection. Smart and eager to please, Massi is a quick learner who responds well to training. He’s also social and polite when meeting other dogs, making him a well-rounded and lovable boy.

The 3-3-3 Rule of Adopting a Dog

Post Adoption Life: With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks may surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
