Meet Albert,

Albert is a bright, curious pup with a gentle start-up mode – he might watch you carefully at first, but give him a moment (and a snack) and he’ll be trotting over with his tail wagging. He’s happy to be picked up and cuddled, but also loves having the freedom to explore new sights and smells. Like his brothers, Albert came to us under-socialised and is still learning what it means to live in a safe, loving home. He’s incredibly food motivated, which will be a big help with his training. With patience, structured learning, and plenty of positive experiences, Albert will grow into a confident, loving dog who’s ready to join in on all of life’s adventures.

Albert is still young and had a rough start to life. When he and his litter mates arrived at our facility, they were all heartbreakingly underweight — most likely due to not receiving proper nutrition in their previous home. Since then, we’ve been giving Albert the care, food, and love needed to help him grow big and strong. Under our vet’s guidance, he has been steadily gaining weight, but it’s a gradual journey that will need to continue in his new home.

The wonderful news is that Albert has been given a clean bill of health — and with ongoing, nutritious meals and a caring adopter, he will keep thriving. Albert may have had a difficult beginning, but he has so much love to share with the right family.

Dog-friendly? At this moment it is undetermined if Albert is dog social - he is under socialised and has only been around his siblings. He will need further socialisation training which we have started.
Cat-friendly? Unknown - we can't really test in this environment, so it’s up to his new family to introduce him carefully.
Kid-friendly? Absolutely! He’s open to meeting children from 5 years and up.

Considerations:

Albert would love a yard, with high secure fencing, so that he can play in it safely. He dreams of a home with toys - lots of toys! As well as daily exercise/walks to keep his body physically fit & his mind mentally fit. Treat/food puzzles are a great tool and great way to keep active puppy minds engaged!

Albert is starting to explore his surrounds & is growing in confidence each & every day. However, it would be a wise move to invest in a crate & start crate training. This type of training is not only a highly valuable skill to have but is a great skill for any dog to learn and know.

Albert should be enrolled into puppy training classes as soon as he is adopted. These classes & training will set him up for life and will allow him to learn social skills & etiquette, as well as define his manners. These classes & training will also teach him how to appropriately interact with other dogs as well as other animals & people. These training classes will also assist his new owner, as they can both learn new skills together.

Post Adoption Life: With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks may surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
