Meet West,

West is a sweet and gentle girl with a soft nature that will melt your heart. She’s best suited to an experienced owner who understands that building trust takes time and patience. A calm, quiet home would be her ideal match, where she can feel safe and truly relax. West is open to meeting kids aged 10 and up — she’s come a long way with her timidity since arriving with us, but older children will better understand her gentle pace and need for reassurance.

Once West feels comfortable, she absolutely loves affection — she adores chin scratches, cheek rubs and soft pats along her back. She’s learning that being picked up and carried isn’t so scary, and she’s becoming braver every day. Though she can still be shy around loud noises or sudden movements, her curiosity and friendly nature shine through more and more as her confidence grows.

West is a calm, low-energy cat who prefers a peaceful lifestyle. She’ll occasionally bat at a toy before deciding a nap is the better option, and she never says no to a tasty treat (though she can be a bit picky about her wet food!). Sensitive, sweet and quietly affectionate, West is ready to find someone who’ll give her the gentle love and patience she deserves.

West is not suitable to live with dogs as they scare her.

As for cats, West came in with another cat and she seem interested in other cats and making friends. For people with existing cats - we always encourage a slow and gradual introduction, over a few days, so that both cats have the best chance at become friends and getting along.

We always encourage cats to be indoor cats. West has already experienced living on the streets and she enjoys being inside where she feels safe. If she is outside, it will increase her chances of running away, getting lost, injured, or worse. As an inside cat she can live her best life possible while feeling safe at the same time.

Staff Comments: Once very shy but making moves and coming out of her shell, West is growing in confidence and will politely ask for pats and love from you. Loud noises are still a lot for her to process but she's learning that bravery is the way to go and she's well on her way to being a wonderful addition to any family.

Post Adoption Life: With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks may surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
