Let's Recycle Right Together

National Recycling Week is here and it’s the perfect time to learn how small actions at home can make a big impact for our city.

Every item we recycle correctly helps keep our community clean and green by:

  • Saving landfill space and reducing methane gas emissions
  • Preserving our natural resources like trees, water and minerals
  • Supporting the circular economy by turning old items into new products

This year, we’re encouraging everyone across Campbelltown City to rethink recycling - and make sure we’re putting the right things in the right bin.

Get Involved

  • Learn what can and can’t go in your yellow bin.
  • Join one of our National Recycling Week events.
  • Spread the word with your family, neighbours and friends.
  • Take a minute to check your bins at home - are you recycling right?

Our Contamination Focus This Year: Soft Plastics, Bagged Recyclables & Textiles

We’re focusing on three key problem areas in our community’s recycling:

  1. Soft Plastics
noSoft plastics like plastic bags, chip packets and cling wrap are the number one contaminant in our yellow bins.

yesPut soft plastics in your red landfill bin or join the RecycleSmart program for alternate options.

  2. Bagged Recyclables
noBagged recycling can’t be opened safely at recycling centres, so everything inside ends up in landfill.

yesRemember to keep your recycling loose.

  3. Textiles
noOld clothes, shoes and fabrics don’t belong in the yellow bin either.
yesDonate quality items to local charities or drop them at a textile drop off point.
yesIf it’s too damaged to donate, place it in your red landfill bin.
