Bin Lock Program

We’re helping to keep our streets cleaner by offering a free bin lock to households dealing with birds rummaging through bins or bins tipping over in strong winds. 

How to apply

To be eligible for a free bin lock, you must:

  • Live in the Campbelltown Local Government Area
  • Be experiencing ongoing issues with birds accessing your bins, or bins being blown over
  • Collect your lock from Council’s Civic Centre once your application is approved
  • Be responsible for the installation of your lock
  • Agree to provide feedback via a short survey one month after installation

Tips to keep birds out of your bins

  • Don’t overfill your bins — make sure lids are fully closed
  • Make sure your recycling bin is free from food
  • Keep your general waste bagged to make it harder for birds to access
