Council has partnered with Woolworths Ingleburn to encourage healthy eating habits of residents at an event series to be held next week.

The Quick Chef Challenge is supported by NSW Health and is the first free event of its kind to be delivered by Council as part its commitment to supporting the health of the community and reducing childhood obesity across the area.

Last year, Council joined with the South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD) to combat rates of obesity in children by delivering the SWSLHD Childhood Overweight and Obesity Prevention and Management Action Plan.

“It is a priority of Council to provide opportunities for residents to lead healthy, active lifestyles that have a positive influence on their wellbeing,” said Mayor George Brticevic.

“We recognise that there are a number of factors that contribute to childhood obesity and are committed to engaging families to make healthy diet decisions,” Cr Brticevic said.

Professional chef, Sonya Moulang will be cooking meals and showing how easy it can be to throw together a tasty, healthy and affordable meal and involving anyone who wants to show off their cooking skills during the sessions.

There will be an activity table for children at each session. Everyone who attends a presentation will go into the draw to win an Air Fryer or a $50 Woolworths Gift Card.

The sessions will be held 11am-11.30am and 12.30pm-1pm, Wednesday 23 January and 11am-11.30am and 12.30pm-1pm, Thursday 24 January.
